Continuing decision authority

Architecture Governance

Keep material architecture decisions aligned during delivery.

A named principal provides architecture authority within agreed responsibilities, challenge and exception handling alongside your implementation team.

What you receive

The result of this engagement.

Approval, escalation and any delegated decision authority are established in the governance charter.

  1. An agreed governance charter, architecture baseline and review cadence.
  2. Decision and exception records with rationale and escalation actions.
  3. Periodic architecture risk and alignment summaries within the contracted capacity.

When this helps

Recognize the situation.

  • Multiple teams or suppliers make consequential architecture decisions during delivery.
  • The client needs senior owner-side architecture representation.
  • A target architecture exists, but deviations and unresolved trade-offs need consistent handling.

How the work unfolds

Evidence appropriate to the question.

01

Establish authority and baseline

Agree decision rights, interfaces with delivery leadership, evidence, cadence and capacity.

02

Review material decisions

Participate in agreed architecture reviews, challenge deviations and document options and exceptions.

03

Maintain a decision record

Make unresolved risks, accepted deviations and escalation needs visible to the accountable owners.

Scope & responsibility

Agree the depth. Keep the boundaries clear.

Scope of the engagement

Governance can be arranged as a standalone service with adequate onboarding. A retainer is a commercial arrangement with explicit capacity, response expectations and exclusions.

Appropriate reliance

This is not a delivery workforce, project-management office or unlimited on-call support. Later review of work Sparkling designed or governed must disclose that prior role; a separate independent opinion may need reviewer separation.

One accountable principal. The named architect directs the work and owns the integrated recommendation. Relevant specialists contribute where agreed. Client and partner teams implement and operate; clients retain final business and acceptance decisions.

The agreed engagement sets the coverage, deliverables, responsibilities, timing and fees. Changes to that scope are agreed explicitly.

Practical questions

Before engaging us.

Is governance mandatory after an assessment?

No. It is useful where continuing architecture authority is needed and can also be arranged directly.

Can you provide an independent acceptance opinion on the same work?

Prior design or governance involvement must be disclosed. We agree whether continuity assurance is appropriate or a separately independent reviewer is required.

What is the decision you need to make?

Share the situation and the intended commitment. We will establish whether this scope fits.
